Charity Marathon Raises ₦10m for Digital Library in Abuja School

In an article published on July 18, 2025, BSN Sports stated that Run Club Abuja (RCA) raised 10 million through its annual Charity Half Marathon to establish a computer laboratory and digital library at Junior Secondary School (JSS) Gwagwa, Abuja. The initiative seeks to provide underserved students with access to modern learning tools and bridge the digital divide.

Chairperson of the Local Organizing Committee, Peju Lawanson, explained that JSS Gwagwa was selected due to its lack of accessible computers, stressing the importance of technology in education. Funds came from participant registrations and sponsorships, which will go toward equipping the facility.

RCA’s founder, Henry Okelue, highlighted the event’s growth from 150 runners in its early years to 700 in the 2025 edition, with expectations of attracting over 10,000 participants in the future. RCA President, Buchi Onyebule, also announced that asides meeting the 10m target, an extra 3.5m was raised to provide food, safety gear, and care packages for 100 street cleaners in Abuja.

The event drew participants from across Nigeria and overseas, while headline sponsor Norrenberger Asset Management reaffirmed its commitment to supporting community development through the project.
