Run Club Abuja Raises ₦10m for Digital Library at JSS Gwagwa
Run Club Abuja (RCA) has successfully raised ₦10 million through its Charity Half Marathon to install a computer laboratory and digital library at Junior Secondary School (JSS) Gwagwa, Abuja. The initiative is aimed at enhancing educational opportunities for underserved students who lack access to modern learning tools.
Chairperson of the Local Organizing Committee, Peju Lawanson, explained that the school was chosen due to its limited access to computers, highlighting the importance of technology in education. The funds, generated through registrations and sponsorships, will go into purchasing computers and equipment for the facility.
RCA founder, Henry Okelue, noted the steady growth of the marathon from 150 runners at inception to 700 in the 2025 edition, with hopes of surpassing 10,000 participants in the future. RCA President, Buchi Onyebule, added that aside from the ₦10m target, an additional ₦3–5m was raised for care packages, food items, and safety apparel for 100 street cleaners in Abuja.
The event attracted participants from Lagos and overseas, with headline sponsor Norrenberger Asset Management reaffirming its CSR commitment. The highlight of the day was the presentation of a dummy cheque to the delighted students and teachers of JSS Gwagwa.
