Charity Run Raises ₦10m for Digital Library in Abuja School

Writing for Radio Nigeria, Muzha Kucha announced that RCA’s 5th Anniversary Half Marathon has successfully raised ₦10 million to build and equip a digital library at Government Secondary School (GSS) Gwagwa, Abuja. The initiative aims to bridge the gap in access to modern learning resources, as fewer than 15% of public schools in the city currently have functional libraries.
Chairperson of the Local Organizing Committee, Peju Lawanson, explained that the school was chosen because of its limited access to computers and digital tools. Funds were raised through participant registrations and sponsorships, which will go toward purchasing computers and other essential equipment.
Founder of the RCA Charity Half Marathon, Henry Okelue, noted the event’s steady growth since it began five years ago, expanding from 150 to 700 participants in the 2025 edition. RCA President, Buchi Onyebule, revealed that beyond meeting the ₦10 million target, an additional ₦3.5 million was raised to support 100 street cleaners in Abuja with food items, safety gear, and care packages.
The event’s growing appeal attracted participants from Lagos and even as far as China. The headline sponsor, Norrenberger Asset Management, reaffirmed its commitment to supporting education and community development through initiatives like this.
